Body Shop body butter review

The Body Shop, body butters
The Body Shop, passion fruit body butter

Hi guys! I am reviewing my Body Shop body butters on here, as I mentioned I would do so, on my website

Here is a breakdown of my current Body Shop Body Butter collection.

I will give you a quick run-down of the Body Butters left to right in the picture first, and then a little bit about the other Body Butters I have tried.

Coconut Body Butter seems to be a major summer favorite. It is rich and creamy (meant for normal to dry skin) and smells of tropical coconut oil.

Brazil Nut Body Butter is definitely an old favorite. It’s been around for years and has a perfect mix of nutty sweetness. It smells really yummy if you’re a fan of scents like vanilla. This Body Butter is meant for dry skin, but it doesn’t leave as much of a greasy after feel such as the Coconut Body Butter. It’s very creamy, very rich and very yummy! (This always sells out quickly, it seems, so I doubled up)

This is one of my personal favorites. It is very rich, very creamy, and does leave a little oily after feel. The smell is hard to describe, but it is very unisex–almost spicy– but very neutral. It is very buttery and feels so soft when rubbed into the skin. This is perfect for dry skin.

This one Body Butter I grew to love and obsess about! It smells like sugared strawberries, which at first I didn’t love, but after trying it on my skin I loved it’s texture. It’s like a whipped strawberries and cream moisturizer. This Body Butter is meant for normal skin. (You can tell I really love this one— I have two!)

This Body Butter I remember being obsessed with around 2 years ago, and this one is a favourite for all ages. It really smells of freshly-squeezed pink grapefruit, so if you are a lover of acidic fruits, you will probably love using Pink Grapefruit Body Butter. Some will find it too sharp for their noses, but most love the youthful fresh smell. As for me, I prefer this Body Butter during summer and occasionally during spring. The texture is a light whipped cream, that is meant for normal skin and applies without a greasy feeling.

One of my all-time loved Body Butters. This is part of the Aloe skin care line from the Body Shop, and is designed for sensitive skin. No added fragrance, color and preservatives make this Body Butter famous for its practicality. I love it for after-sun care and find it gentle enough to use everywhere (even my face!). A great choice for those who appreciate the simple things in life.

This Body Butter is part of the Body Shops select fragrance Body Butters. The best way to describe the fragrance is a fresh-fruity-floral. It’s not over-powering in smell, which is nice for those who love light fragrances. The Body Butter is meant for all skin types, and it’s texture is sort of light and fluffy. Despite not being heavy, it is very moisturising (non-greasy). And I absolutely love the picture on the top! :P

This is probably the most loved Body Butter. It is the smell of freshly squeezed Mandarin oranges. It’s sweet and citrusy and seems to appeal to most people. The smell is quite powerful and is noticed by many once on the skin. It is designed for normal skin and the texture is a little less thick than the Pink Grapefruit Body Butter.

(Pronounced Bar-eech-y) Buriti Body Butter is literally one of my top choices for Body Butters. It is designed for babies, and is paediatrician approved, but it has one of the most unique textures found in the Body Shop’s collection of Body Butters. The scent is basic, clean and simple. Those who are fans of clean towels or laundry-freshness will like the smell of Buriti Body Butter (even those who don’t, will appreciate the simplicity of the smell). The texture is a weightless fluffy soft cream that spreads over the skin like a dream and doesn’t leave any sort of greasy after feel. Simply wonderful. Oh, and it has no preservatives either.

One of Body Shops BIGGEST mistakes (in my honest opinion) was discontinuing this gem of a Body Butter. It smells like almond cookies…baked to perfection. It is quite an oily Body Butter, but it is a perfect for normal to dry skin. Especially great for dry elbows, knees and hands, I have been scrimping and saving this Body Butter for only special occasions. I think I will literally cry when I run out. PLEASE BODY SHOP! Bring back Almond Body Butter!

This is a non-greasy Body Butter, that smells (to me) of freshly cut cucumbers. It’s light and clean; again a quality pick for those who love simple clean smells. It’s a nice creamy texture and spreads very nicely. Meant for normal to dry skin, the Olive Body Butter really doesn’t get enough credit!

A chocolatey fave, it’s a thick creamy Body Butter that is meant to restore skins elasticity, so does leave an oily sheen on the skin. Love the feeling of this Body Butter, it’s very decadent and your skin will smell oh-so-delicious after using this Cocoa-Buttery moisturiser. Yum.

Again one of my all-time faves, though you wouldn’t think so, since it doesn’t have a sweet smell. It smells of patchouli, a heavy woodsy scent. The texture is one that is totally amazing, it is meant for extremely dry skin, so you’d think it would be very oily, but it’s not. It’s very dense in the container and an un-greasy uber-moisturiser! It instantly makes the skin feel like silk. I don't love the smell, but on cold winter days, this is the one I go for! It’s really a luxurious treatment for the skin.

14. (Wow! 14 already?!) Vitamin E Body Butter:
The Vitamin E Body Butter was a nice surprise for me, since I don’t really favour the ‘rose-water’ scent it has. It’s not terrible, just not my first choice when it comes to smells. The Vitamin E is again from a skin-care line, and it’s no wonder. The texture is not buttery and thick, but moisturises as if it was. It applied very velvety and you can feel instant smoothness to the skin. It doesn’t leave a greasy feeling.

This is the newest addition to The Body Shop’s Body Butters. For me, it is a blossomy lemon that really expresses it’s scent when in contact with the skin. It’s sort of like lemon meringue pie filling. Love this one. It is for normal to dry skin, and is a little greasy. It is a medium texture, a little more smooth than for example, Satsuma Body Butter. If you like Satsuma, you’ll probably like the Sweet Lemon.

Make-up product review

My stack of make-up! :D

Hello again readers!! :D I hope my post earlier from today, about the Starbucks name-fails lead to a good kickstart to your weekends.
And speaking of weekends, ladies what plans do you have on your minds? (If its something really crazy and bizarre, don't forget to write it down in the comment space! :D) But I have other plans for you'll! How about going for make-up shopping together?? After all, no amount of make-up is too much; with me on that?? (well, I have the same feeling about shoes, bags and clothes as well! :P)
However,I am a differently abled case in this matter. (ONLY) I suffer from an OCD(Obsessive clothing desire), paired by another problem of not being able to discard off old shopping! Haven't figured out a term for that one yet. But I will surely mention it in my blog, when I do :P
So, what you see above is my collection of make-up as its captioned. I had few more miscellaneous items such as brushes and quite some back-up make-up, which did not happen to sit on that tiny table, and hence it remains missing from this photograph. I don't mean to brag about my stuff ( Not like I even think of doing that, as some people already think I am a bit abnormal :P) but this is mainly to review some of the items you see in the picture above.
Well unfortunately enough for me, I was too busy penning down posts on my blogs and websites, I never had enough time to sit down and read or watch reviews of almost 95% of the make-up above and hence I followed trial and error. Few of the items, I regret shedding my cash on, and hence I am reviewing them for you, so you don't have to go through the regretting part.

1.
CHANEL AMOUR GLOSSIMER

CHANEL AMOUR GLOSSIMER

Chanel Amour Glossimer is a vibrant coral pink with fine multi-coloured shimmer. This colour in my eyes is the definition of Spring/Summer, and is a fabulous shade to rock all season long. Much like Chanel 'Sourire Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick', it's a great colour for those with warm, golden undertones and will brighten the face instantly. The coverage is light but build-able, and pairs really well on top of any pink, peach or coral lipstick and it also looks great all on it's own. Chanel Glossimers is one of my favorite formulas of lipgloss (alongside NARS and Bobbi Brown). The formula isn't thick and pasty, nor is it thin and watery. It's perfectly in the middle where you'd want it to be. It's thick enough to where it will adhere to your lips and last for several hours, and when you rub your lips together they will feel silky smooth and glossy - no stickiness what-so-ever. They are also packed with shine as most of the shades contain tiny particles of shimmer so your lips will glisten.
Also, this is one of the few lip products that I can get away with without having to moisturize my lips prior - it will keep them hydrated for however long I have it on my lips, and even a little while after.

2.
L'oreal true match lumi foundation

L'oreal true match lumi foundation

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation is a lightweight, buildable foundation that provides a luminous, glowing finish to the skin. It's actually said to improve the clarity and skin tone with continued use.

L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation is available in 15 shades: Porcelain/Light Ivory, Nude Beige, Natural Beige, Sand Beige, Sun Beige, Soft Ivory/Classic Ivory, Natural Buff, Buff Beige, True Beige, Classic Tan, Creamy Natural, Shell Beige, Classic Beige, Soft Sable and Nut Brown/Cocoa.

To find your match a bit easier, the shades are broken up into three categories: Warm, Neutral and Cool. If you know your undertone, you can go straight to the appropriate category and figure out your exact shade. Sound familiar? Yep. L'Oreal True L'Oreal True Match has the same coloring system. I picked W3 Nude Beige (I'm typically a W4 in L'Oreal True Match, but unfortunately my store was sold out of W4, and I was feeling impatient.. must.. have.. now! :P) It's a bit peach - it could use more yellow/golden tones. For reference, it's less yellow than many of the other warm shades in the range.

The consistency is very lightweight; runny, but also very creamy. If I had to compare the consistency to another drugstore foundation, I'd probably say it's the most similar to Neutrogena Healthy Skin, but slightly creamier. Because of the thin texture, it's very easy to blend and doesn't cake or dry on the skin before you're finished blending the whole face.

Swatches from left to right: L'Oreal True Match LUMI Foundation W3, L'Oreal True Match Foundation W4, MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC30.

Overall, I really like this foundation and my main gripe is mainly with the color. I think L'Oreal needs to go back to the drawing board with W3, because it's not warm enough. Lastly, I wish the lasting power was better, but most times lighter coverage/liquidy foundations don't last as long as heavier foundations.

The Round-Up
Pros:
Light, creamy-liquid formula that is very easy to work with
Light, buildable to light-medium coverage
SPF20
Pump dispenser - no mess!
Makes my skin look glowing and radiant

Cons:
W3 is too peach (it actually matches my MAC NW20 concealer)
Becomes shiny within a couple of hours if I don't set with a powder
Lasting power is 6 hours (results will vary - it may last longer or less on your skin)

3.
Cover Girl flamed out mascara

Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara is a mascara that provides maximum volume to create a bold, winged-out look. The unique wire brush coats your lashes and curves them up and out. This mascara doesn't claim to add any length, so keep that in mind.

The brush is a bit awkward. It's very large and full, and has an hourglass shape. I find that slightly rolling the brush at the base of the lashes while moving the brush upward works really well. The middle of the wand hugs the lashes as you coat them, and does a pretty good job of coating the lashes evenly. But because the tip of the brush is large, you can't really reach your corner lashes with it. Often times my fine corner lashes get missed with this mascara, otherwise I'll end up with mascara on my lids trying. The brush seems to deposit more product to the base of the lashes, so it gives almost a dark, liner effect to the the top lid. I despise any brushes that aren't your standard mascara wand shape, but you get use to it after a few uses.

It doesn't do anything for lengthening, but it works really well for building volume. The formula is on the drier side, and because of this, even when there is too much product on the brush and I apply it to my lashes, it doesn't stick all of my lashes together and make them look stubby. If I do end up with small clumps, they comb out easy with a spoolie without removing the mascara. For a volumizing mascara, I found that it separates fairly well and makes my lashes look thicker and fuller. You can build coat after coat of volume with no problems.

If you're happy with the length of your lashes and just want volume, this mascara is excellent. But, if you're looking for length and volume, I'd skip this mascara or use it in conjuction with a lengthening mascara or a good mascara base because it layers really well.

4. A nail tutorial

I've been wanting to try a reverse french manicure with glitter for a while now after seeing several photos on Pinterest, so I decided to give it a shot finally. I've tried the regular reverse french and liked it a lot, but I thought adding glitter would be a fun twist since I love glitter tips in general.

I used french manicure guides that I purchased from my local beauty supply store, but you can use tape if you'd like (just make sure to cut it so it's rounded) or garage sale stickers, reinforcement stickers, etc.

It's that easy! You just have to be sure that your glitter is completely dry, otherwise the sticker can pull the glitter off. As an alternative to glitter polish, you can actually apply a clear coat of nail polish to the bottom portion of your nail, and spill some loose glitter on top.

For the glitter, I used Maybelline Color Show Sequins Nail Polish in the shade Gold's Night Out with Milani Silver Jewel FX on top.

The color on my nails is Essie 'Lion Around'. I picked it up recently at my local beauty store- Superdrug.

Starbucks epic name fails!

Hey fellow bloggers and readers!! Already surfing in the weekend mode? Well heres a little something that would definitely crack you up. This time, I'm going a bit out of the way; this post does not have anything to do with my Instagram posts. But I came across few Starbucks fails, and I  HADDD to write about those!!
Starbucks is known to be forever deaf! But this, haha this takes testimony for the very fact, a notch higher!!
Have a look for yourself...

This is an all time low
Apparently, his name’s Jared. But nice try, Starbucks…

“I guess my name today is Gina. #thatsnotmyname #starbucksfail”
And poor "Becca" had it worse!! Becca to Gina! :P

“………… #barry? #barty? #starbucksfail”
Her name’s Mary!! But what’s gender to Starbucks?

Colour… Karla… what’s the difference? Right Starbucks?

Well, now that’s somee way to spell “Julia…:P

Gail: “I’d like a grande iced peach green tea, please!” Barista: *puts down Hunger Games book* “Sure thing, Cato!”

Not really sure how you get “Cato” from Gail!!

To be fair, Stasia, your name’s kind of strange. So there goes..."Michelle" ! :P

I’m sorry, Starbucks, is “Lindsey” the name you’re looking for?

Ivan… Gunther… all boys’ names sound the same, am I right??!!

Something tells me that’s not how you spell “Gretchen…”
Now, they're just making fun of him! :/

Her name’s Scout. This doesn’t even have a single letter in common…close enough should we say? :P

Her name’s Jen. At least they got the first letter right this time…Voila Starbucks! You're slowly getting there...

Claudia: “They call me Betsy!! That’s not my name.. That’s not my name..That’s not my name.” :P

That one time Starbucks gave poor Kelsey a lisp…:P

That one time Gianna was actually Leona…You tried Starbucks, you tried!

That one time Brad was a big ol’ brat…

That one time Jenn and her friend were both Betty…:I

I believe the name you’re looking for is Brittany…That’s close…I guess!

Steve with two E’s. That’s totally common, right?

What "Steve" had to say, “When ordering at #Starbucks I tell them my name is Steve, to avoid the PH misspelling of Steven. But this…THIS right here is a first!!"

Apparently Amy with two M’s is also TOTALLY common…

Ok, her name’s Sharon. I give up.

I have no more to write! :P

IRONICAL FACT: While writing this post, I was listening to "That's my name..." by Akcent!!! Hahahaha Just came to realise it when I reached almost here and was murmuring "that's my name..." :P

Anyhow, THAT'S ALL FOLKS!

Happy weekend Bloggers!!! :)X
